'There's daggers in men's smiles' - Macbeth
 
Simplistic in design, the 9ct gold both compliments and accentuates the rosecut ruby, making it the sole focal point of the ring. The gold and silver highlight the struggle for power within the play, between the Macbeths and Duncan, emphasising how one is valued less than the other. Themes of guilt, murder and deception flow throughout the Scottish play, culminating in their bloody deaths which are represented by this rich ruby.
